In June 2020, the government announced that £1 billion of funding was being allocated to support children and young people to enable them to catch up with lost learning due to school closures. Further guidance was published by the Department of Education in November 2020 and can be viewed here.
School allocations for the funding have been calculated on a per pupil basis, with mainstream schools receiving £80 per pupil. The Department of Education states that schools should use this funding for specific activities to support their pupils to catch up for lost teaching over the previous months, in line with the curriculum expectations for the next academic year. Henhurst Ridge Primary Academy has identified the areas impacted by lost learning and whereby the funding would most benefit our children and have formulated the below strategy for catching up.
